 Advocate for Policy Change: Enhancing Housing Access and Quality

    The Housing Choice Voucher Program has significant problems that prevents low-income families get access to housing. This includes insufficient funding, and limited access to housing for those who are eligible. Those who are eligible experience extended wait times for vouchers, restricted housing options, and having to experience living in poor living conditions. 

Proposal for our Campaign

    The main proposal for our campaign is to secure more funding for the Housing Choice Voucher Program. After increasing funding, we can accomplish our goals of increasing the number of our families' obtaining vouchers, decrease the number of families on the waitlist, and decrease the average wait time to receive the housing voucher after approval. Funding levels need to be raised in order to meet the demand. Additionally, it is important that we strive to improve the quality of available housing. We can advocate to stricter housing quality inspections and be sure that units are in compliance with standards. 

Positive Outcomes

Safe and stable housing is a basic universal need. Our proposed policy changes will directly impact low income families, elderly and disabled individuals experiencing housing crisis by providing them with safe and high-quality housing. Stable housing can be associated with family stability, good physical and mental health outcomes, independence, and good well-being overall. Our advocacy organization is the voice for vulnerable communities.
